Just as Tommy Tickenoff was gaining a wife in the island country, his mother was losing her husband of 10 years. On April 11, he had a scotch from the minibar.

Wallace's niece, Chloe Arnold, told Fox News the family is baffled.

According to Arnold, a hotel doctor had checked on Wallace and decided he needed to be hospitalized on April 13.

Thirty members of the family took off for the Dominican Republic to be in place for Tickenoff's wedding on April 14.

"We have so many questions", Arnold said. "We don't want this to happen to anyone else".

Last week, a Colorado couple who stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe Hotel alleged that they had become violently ill after being exposed to what they suspect were insecticides through the air conditioning system.

At the same hotel last July another American tourist, 45-year-old David Harrison, of Maryland, died under similar circumstances.

Dominican authorities said post-mortem examinations revealed all four tourists died of natural causes. "I think what's happening is something happened to a loved one in the Dominican Republic and now you're hearing about this sudden thing happening at the Bahia Principe and you're going to conflate those", said Murphy. He said the investigation was complicated by the woman's inability to identify the attacker from a lineup of all employees on duty at the time. Day also suffered a cerebral edema.

"I feel awful for those families because their loved ones have passed away while on vacation, which is bad, but literally that happens to hundreds and thousands of Americans every year as they travel", he added.

Those three deaths made headlines and put a spotlight on what now appears to be a yearlong pattern, according to the New York Post. This story was reported from Oakland, Calif.
