Warner Bros. and Legendary's "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" may be king of the box office, but it only managed a meek roar.

'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' is also King of the Box Office. Unfortunately, the results look even worse when compared to 2014's Godzilla which delivered nearly double the amount of the sequel during its first weekend with over $93 million.

Directed by Michael Dougherty, the film stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford and Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi among others. Just like Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Ma will certainly drop quickly in the top ten, but then again, the profit margin is much easier to surpass in Ma's case. Internationally the movie brought $19.2 million, giving it an worldwide total of $32.1 million and a global total $56.2 million.

Dexter Fletcher's "Rocketman", starring Taron Egerton, didn't launch with the same bravado as last year's Freddie Mercury biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Last week's victor Aladdin did well in its second weekend to earn $41 million. Paramount shelled out $40 million to produce the R-rated "Rocketman", which doesn't shy away from sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll.

The monster film brought in US$49 million (S$67 million).

Universal's latest micro-budget collaboration with Blumhouse Productions, Ma, opened with $18 million domestically and another $2.8 million internationally for a global total of $21.06 million.
