A seemingly innocuous photo showing baby Archie wrapping his tiny hand around his father's middle finger has divided royal followers. The Duke of Edinburgh was also one of the first to meet Meghan and Harry's newborn son after his birth in May.
The first photos of Archie were taken in Windsor Castle for his official photo call, and the second photo, which didn't show Archie's face, was posted in honor of Meghan Markle's first Mother's Day and featured baby Archie's little feet and toes. Prince Philip attended Harry and Meghan's wedding in May a year ago amid speculation he would miss the big day while recovering from a hip replacement operation.
If they don't steal that line for Season Twenty of Netflix's The Crown, they are leaving gold on the table.
"We honour and celebrate each and every one of you".
Let alone one who has lived a lifetime at the head - well, just to the side of the head - of a family who are supposed to be possessed of the unparalleled politeness.
Phillip reportedly made the comments just as things were getting serious between the duke and then-American actress Markle. Insiders previously told The Sun that various royals voiced concerns but that "Harry stood up for Meghan very forcibly".
"William was quite concerned that the relationship had moved so quickly", royal expert Katie Nicholl told a TLC documentary.
"I think William sees how happy Meghan makes Harry", she added.
So that was the beginning of the feud? The Mother's Day pic also honoured Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, as it was taken at their home Frogmore Cottage, with forget-me-nots-Diana's favourite flower-in the background.
