United Flight 627 from Denver reportedly blew out a tire while landing at 1pm on Runway 22 before skidding off to the left side of the pavement, according to the FAA.

Flights were briefly halted at New Jersey's Newark airport on Saturday after a plane skidded off a runway while landing, but no one was hurt, federal officials said.

United Airlines said in a statement that the plane "experienced multiple flat tires upon landing" and "became disabled".

No injuries have been reported.

Travelers are encouraged to check with airlines before coming to the airport, according to a tweet from the airport. For those on the flight, we arranged transport for passengers from the aircraft to the airport terminal and paramedics were on site as a precaution. As soon as passengers exited the aircraft, the plane would be towed off the runway, officials said.

An airline spokesperson said some of the 166 passengers aboard the plane suffered minor bumps and bruises but were not in need of medical care.

As mentioned, there were flight delays at the airport due to this incident.

The FAA was en route to begin an investigation, the agency said in a statement via Twitter.
