Series alums Emma Roberts, Cody Fern, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, and John Carroll Lynch are all set to return to the newest installment of American Horror Story along with new cast members Olympic gold medalist Gus Kenworthy, Zach Villa (Destroyer), and DeRon Horton (Dear White People). "American Horror Story: Cult", which was released in 2017, focused on the aftermath of the 2016 US presidential election.

American Horror Story: 1984 just started filming and we'll have a chance to see it a little bit later this fall on FX.

While there isn't much solid information about the plot available, the summer camp setting shown in the teaser suggests that it will pay homage to the slasher films of the 1980s.

Creator Ryan Murphy announced the castings on social media telling fans, "To celebrate the first day of filming the NINTH Season of AMERICAN HORROR STORY, here's the official 1984 cast announcement along with some awesome 80s lewks".

This is the first time that Peters will not star in the series since its debut back in 2011. Fans can watch the video below, or find it right here on Instagram. Variety reported that due to her involvement with the Murphy-produced Netflix series "Ratched", "AHS" favorite Sarah Paulson will only have a small part this year. The actor is now filming "Mrs. America" and "Ratched" for television, and in film she wrapped "Run" from Aneesh Chaganty, the animated-comedy "Abominable", "The Goldfinch", and starred in 2019's "Glass" from M. Night Shyamalan.

However, Variety report the actress won't have a "significant role" in the upcoming American Horror Story: 1984. The show is scheduled to return on September 18th.
