Asus was among the first smartphone makers to launch a gaming smartphone - Asus ROG Phone. To no one's surprise, the firm earlier today started to issue out media invite to a July 23rd event for the launch of the Asus ROG Phone 2.
Now, let's take a closer look at the specifications and other aspects of the ASUS ROG Phone 2. Now the report comes out to be true since as the company has confirmed to launch the next-generation gaming-centric phone on the said date. Further, the poster for the phone's launch event has a Tencent logo which means that Asus and Tencent are working on the development and optimization of existing and new games from the developer. Official specs for the phone is not out as of now but speculations say that the phone might feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, 10GB or 12GB of RAM along with 512GB of internal memory. The display was 6 inches with 1080 x 2160 pixels having 90Hz refresh rate.
Personally I hope the final product backs off a touch on the gaming and delivers more as a phone.
No word on price or when the ROG Phone 2 might launch in the U.S., but there are rumored to be two versions starting at around $640.
The ASUS ROG Phone launched a year ago comes with a 6-inch AMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio and is powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128/512 GB of internal storage.
In an earlier Weibo post, Asus announced that the ROG Phone 2 would feature a 120Hz refresh rate. Apparently, the smartphone will be released this month itself on July 23.
Along with all this, it is said that the company could also launch a few accessories for the gaming smartphone.
