Atletico sign Trippier from Tottenham for €25m

Atletico agree fee with Tottenham for Kieran Trippier

"The English player, 28, signs for the next three seasons".

The England global joined the north Londoners in 2015 from Burnley, made over 100 appearances under manager Mauricio Pochettino, and represented England at the World Cup just 12 months ago.

Trippier impressed in England's charge to the World Cup semifinals at Russian Federation 2018, but struggled to recapture that form for Spurs last term.

Linked sporadically with Atletico Madrid throughout the summer, Diego Simeone's side were concentrating more on signing other targets.

The deal has been confirmed by the two clubs and Tottenham have released a very brief statement, rather surprising given that he has spent four years at the club and helped them to reach the Champions League final.

"With this signing, we add to our team a fantastic and experienced player who comes to us from the Champions League runners-up. We wish Kieran all the best for the future".

The England right-back was given a guard of honour with a difference, as the Atletico players slapped him on the back as he ran through the group.

Spanish and British media said Atletico were paying Spurs a fee of 22 million euros (RM 101.6 million).

Trippier moved to Tottenham from Burnley in 2015 after an impressive spell in the side at Turf Moor.

Having initially played second-fiddle to Kyle Walker, Trippier emerged as Mauricio Pochettino's main right-back after Walker's departure to Manchester City.

The England worldwide has signed a 3-year contract at the Wanda Metropolitano, and it's believed he's cost Atleti £20m (€22.1m).
