Some critics have decried Marvel for having a lack of on-screen diversity, an issue "Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings" seems to address. That film features Kim's Convenience star Simu Liu as the titular hero.
But the way he got the role also deserves a round of applause. A movie? Who knows, but people are putting together their dream casts online, including many mentions of real-life couple Emily Blunt and John Krasinski as superpowered couple Sue Storm and Reed Richards. That film opens February 12, 2021.
The Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con's Hall H panel left all of us awestruck. The villain. One of Marvel's most iconic villains ever, and certainly the FF's greatest foe, is none other than Dr. Doom.
Until now, Mr Kevin Feige, Marvel's fanboy-in-chief, had focused nearly entirely on movies.
Bettany and Olsen were joined on stage by MCU newcomer Teyonah Parris, and Feige announced that Parris will be playing the grown-up version of Monica Rambeau, who was introduced to audiences in "Captain Marvel". It's unclear if that will happen here; Chris Hemsworth will return as Thor for at least part of the film. According to Feige, Valkyrie is just the beginning of Marvel Studios' plans for LGBTQ-friendly storylines - something that's a long time coming for the MCU.
Feige talked about the next Thor film, "Thor: Love and Thunder", which will be the fourth feature film in the "Thor" franchise. Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will all start hitting theatres sometime after 2021, along with a new Fantastic Four and a rebooted X-Men.
An insider teased that Marvel is working on Young Avengers as well as Dark Avengers going forward.
Tom Hiddleston will revive his villainous role as Loki (spring 2021). The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan) is the only Disney+ show set for next year, with its fall 2020 premiere. But fans are excited to see him take on the leading role in "Blade".
Cast and filmmakers attend the Marvel panel at Comic-Con in San Diego, July 20, 2019.
