Amazon's debut virtual reality app has arrived with Prime Video VR - available on Quest, Go, Rift and Gear VR headsets all manufactured by Facebook's Oculus. The majority of modern games still launch without official virtual reality support, and most media streaming platforms operate only using unofficial third-party pass-through software.

At this time the Amazon Prime Video VR app can be downloaded from the Oculus Quest, Oculus Go, and Gear VR sections of the Oculus store by users in the US and the United Kingdom only.

There's also voice search to sidestep the fact that writing in VR is deeply tedious, bookmarks and a private browsing mode for the more, uh, "specialist" 360-degree videos you might be searching for in the privacy of your own home.

Amazon Prime members in the United States and the United Kingdom can now don their favourite portable VR headsets to watch Amazon Prime Video on their own personal screen. From Prime Video Original movies like Oscar-nominated Cold War, Guava Island, Chasing Happiness and The Lost City of Z to TV shows such as The Grand Tour, Good Omens, or The Man in the High Castle, there's no shortage of content. Users can already stream content from Netflix through a similar VR app.

If you're not now an Amazon Prime member, you can sign up right here. Those without an Amazon Prime membership will find the VR videos locked away, without even the option to buy or rent them.
