He's just the second player in National Football League history to hit the 50-touchdown and 5,000-yard marks in the same season.

Mahomes was recognized at the annual ESPY awards on Wednesday night with "Best NFL Player" honors, beating out Saints' quarterback Drew Brees, Rams' defensive tackle Aaron Donald and Rams' tailback Todd Gurley.

"I know they've been tweeting and tagging you, man, and it's not complete unless you sign it", Leach said. What did the reigning NFL MVP do in response? "I appreciate that", Mahomes said.

This thrilling game alone was the main reason why there was so much hope for a Super Bowl 53 battle between the Rams and Chiefs since one could only imagine what these two teams would have done for an encore presentation.

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo edged out Mahomes for the "Best Male Athlete of the Year".

It was the highest-scoring Monday night game ever played, and the first National Football League game in which both teams scored 50 or more points, according to the Associated Press.

The Chiefs were also part of a second award, earning "Best Game" honors along with the Rams for the epic bout between the two teams on Monday Night Football last November.
