D23: Obi-Wan series officially confirmed for Disney+

Disney's D23 Expo is in full swing, and all eyes are on the Disney+ panel where the first trailer for The Mandalorian staring Game of Thrones star, Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell) as the Mandalorian.

During his introduction for Wen Iger announced that the Mulan voice actress and star of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. would also be traveling to a galaxy far, far away in the near future.

The Falcon and the Winter Solider will explore both the title characters' pasts and futures, so maybe we'll finally see Bucky get the therapy he probably needs after 70-odd years of assassination and torture.

The Mandalorian ushers in a brand new period for the franchise, hoping to capitalize on similar pursuits of followers that Rouge One was in a position to obtain. Based on the 2016 animated adventure of the titular teenager tasked by the waves to redeem the heart of Te Fiti, the new installation is just one of many being revealed this weekend during the D23 Expo along with the Disney Parks "Imagining Tomorrow, Today" pavilion.

The Mandalorian is set to premiere on Disney+ on Nov 12.

The Mandalorian starts streaming on November 12th. But now, writer-director Jon Favreau is ready to bring us the hugely anticipated Disney Plus series The Mandalorian. There's also plenty of familiar Star Wars iconography, ranging from speeder bikes to Carbonite-frozen figures, which suggests there are some Hutts in the mix.

The day is young and news is already coming out of D23. Along with all of the Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel content we already have, Disney+ will feature a very big slate of original programming, including movies and so, so many series. Original cast members like Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie reprise their roles for Disney's upcoming shows.

Another superhero to make its debut on Disney+ is Stan Lee-John Buscema's She-Hulk, who first debuted in Marvel Comics with “Savage She-Hulk” series in 1980.

Are you going to be subscribing to Disney+? The Muppets will also find a home on the platform in a new short-form series. Karen Gilchrist will serve as co-executive producer. Filoni is best known for his highly acclaimed work on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.
