Google Go, a Lightweight Search App, Expands Worldwide for Android Users

Google’s Playstore becomes hard for apps showing ads

Lightweight Google Go now available worldwide

The app is now available to download from the Google Play Store, and the company says it will run on basically all Android devices as long as they're running Lollipop and above.

Even though the Google Play Store now uses Material Design, there is no dark mode and even with the system-wide Dark theme available with Android Q toggled on, the Play Store continues to appear in Light mode.

Reddit and Hacker News also weighed in.

Other changes are more subtle, such as more spaced out elements, no segmentations between items, increased white space and a new typeface (Google Sans), which gives the app overall a fresh and modern look. The Android Apps have a construction which expects to serve as much as necessary but not goes beyond the limits in business to cause severe inconvenience and affect the handset.

"We aren't backing off on this important issue, but we are working to help developers get there", Apple spokesman Fred Sainz told The Washington Post.

The past eight months spent on enhancing Android Studio 3.5 has resulted in improved memory settings, build speed, Apply Changes and Chrome OS support. Google Go is an optimized version of search which is created to take up minimal space on phone storage.

Unfortunately for Google, Play Store developers have come to expect a speedy review process so any delays feel like unnecessary friction.

They made use of unusual features to avoid detection, including using time-stamps to delay displaying ads until after the app had been installed for 30 minutes.

That process doesn't always work, though. This follows similar news from January, where 85 apps were found to contain adware.

A group of developers have accused Apple of double standards over a clampdown on excessive default data-sharing by iOS apps.
