Henry Golding To Star In Paramount ‘G.I. Joe’ Spinoff ‘Snake Eyes’

Robert Schwentke (RED, Allegiant) will direct the film, while Beauty and the Beast and Huntsman: Winter's War scribe Evan Spiliotopoulos will handle the script. Joe spinoff Snake Eyes, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

In 2016, Paramount revealed its writers room to create a "cross-property interconnected on-screen universe" featuring brands like G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Visionaries, M.A.S.K. He wasn't exactly meant to become an icon, but we all know how young boys love their ninjas, and the character's lack of speech and devastating skill set quickly made him the hands-down favorite among the relaunched line.

Long-time G.I. Joe producer Lorenzo DiBonaventura has previously said that the Snake-Eyes film is a prequel to the two previous G.I.

In the past two G.I. Retaliation. For those born too late for G.I. Joe's heyday and who also skipped out on the 2009 and 2013 film's, Snake Eyes is an enigmatic ninja commando that is part of the G.I. Joe anti-terrorist military group.

Golding's star is definitely on the rise. But he could probably do a lot better than the dregs of a G.I.

Golding will next appear in The Last Christmas opposite Emilia Clarke and the action-comedy The Gentleman with Matthew McConaughey. The latter is now working on the script, rumored to focus on Snake Eyes seeking revenge for his father's death by joining a ninja clan. How do you think Henry Golding will fare as Snake Eyes?

Snake Eyes now has a October 16, 2020 release date - but that could always change.
