Reliance Jio has over 340 million subscribers but a majority of those will be prepaid users. Monday marks the first time it will host an earnings call. This will allow subscribers to enjoy a new film in their home on the same as the movie is being released in theatres.
As for the smaller operators, Jio GigaFiber would extend "buyout offers" to smaller cable and broadband operators, under which smaller operators could sell their networks and customers to Jio in return for a fixed, one-time payment. Tencent, Gameloft Microsoft, and others have announced that their games will be available on this set-top box.
He also said that by incubating new growth engines into telecom and retail arms (Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail), the company has proved those skeptics wrong who said RIL can't succeed in consumer business. The outgoing calls from the phone are unlimited and will remain free forever.
The monthly subscription fee for this plan is to be a mere Rs 500. Jio has not specified which OTT plans it will offer as yet.

The Welcome offer or Forever plan may include a security deposit to get a free TV or Home PC and 4K STB. There is no update as of yet on how much will these annual packages cost.

Reliance also announced the Jio GigaFiber IoT platform that will be commercially available from January 1, 2020; and the Jio HoloBoard mixed reality headset that has been developed in collaboration with Tesseract. Microsoft will deploy its Azure platform in these datacenters to support Jio's offerings.
Cloud computing and challenge to Jeff BezosThe partnership between Jio and Microsoft is a challenge to Jeff Bezos' Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the country that caters to some of the big wigs in the country like Tata, Hotstar, Wipro and Oracle. As part of the plan, Reliance has been forming partnerships and acquiring technology assets.
Last week, Credit Suisse cut its recommendation for Reliance's stock and the price target citing reasons including rising liabilities and finance costs. It is presently focused on expanding petrochemical and telecom business, industry sources said. After teasing the Jio Fiber service since long, Reliance has now officially announced the launch date for the same. The deal will have an enterprise value of around Rs 5,32,466 crore. Jio's IPO initiative has been picked up, and works are on.
