CD Projekt RED's massively anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 will be receiving its own spin-off card game, Cyberpunk 2077: Afterlife - The Card Game. However, Afterlife is being developed in collaboration with CMON, an worldwide publisher of board games, and will actually be a physical card game rather than a digital one.
Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification.
The World of Cyberpunk 2077 is priced at $39.99 and isn't the first collaboration between CD Projekt Red and Dark Horse. "Andrea Chiarvesio and I were beyond thrilled to work on it".
"In Cyberpunk 2077: Afterlife, players become Fixers, the data brokers and masterminds in Night City that recruit cyberpunks, equip them with gear, and send them out on missions".
Cyberpunk 2077 - Afterlife: The Card Game will be launched sometime in 2020 - hopefully around the same time as when the game releases. In all this, players will have to manage their money, choosing what to buy from what they can afford. Using innovative drafting mechanics and a special dashboard, they will have to decide which cards to buy and which to sacrifice to be able to buy more.
The Witcher 3's Gwent, an in-game, fully-featured card game, was an unexpected hit with players. Each successfully completed mission will increase the value of Street Creed, which will give survivors experience by turning them into veterans. However, it's unclear if they have any plans to align the release with that of Cyberpunk 2077, or whether it's simply too early for the company to pin down a launch date. As a huge fan of board and card games myself, this is excellent news for fans like me.
