The game, which will take place on August 13, 2020, will be the first-ever Major League Baseball game in Iowa and will be played at a temporary 8,000 seat stadium constructed in the cornfields near the original movie site.

Field of Dreams is a movie that in the end, shows that baseball is a game that can bond generations and brings very different people together.

The design of the temporary Field of Dreams ballpark will pay homage to Comiskey Park, home of the White Sox from 1910 to 1990, the announcement said. Back in 2016, the Braves and Marlins played a game at Fort Bragg, making it the first time a regular-season game in a professional sport was played on an active military base. It will air on Fox at 7 p.m. ET.

In the movie, Kevin Costner plays a farmer who hears a voice whisper to him: "If you build it, they will come".

The event will be the first-ever Major League Baseball game played in the state of Iowa. The game will be played on August 13, 2020, on the Dyersville farm site in Iowa.

They will build it, and you will come! "I fully expect that this experience will exemplify why baseball remains a cherished American pastime". But the controversial outfielder, remembered most for his alleged association with the Black Sox Scandal (in which members of the 1919 White Sox conspired to fix the World Series), will be there in spirit.

Major League Baseball has continued to expand their markets in recent years.

Real living baseball teams will be playing a game near the "Field of Dreams" in Iowa. "Obviously, the White Sox are a big part of that movie, so it's apropos that we're part of it". Fans can walk from constructed field through the cornfield to the movie site.

More than 300 students with special needs from nine Wake County schools gathered at the athletic fields of The Factory in Wake Forest on Thursday, May 14, 2015, to compete alongside their schools' varsity baseball and softball teams. Hall of Famers who hail from and/or were born in Iowa include Bob Feller, Cap Anson, Dave Bancroft, Fred Clarke, Red Faber and Dazzy Vance.
