Directed by Bridesmaids helmer Paul Feig and co-written by Emma Thompson - who also plays the mother of Clarke's acerbic character - the first trailer for this smartly written rom-com seems to suggest that there may be some quasi-fantastical elements to the story.
Last Christmas stars Game of Thrones' very own Daenerys Targaryen, Emilia Clarke as Kate, a Christmas shop employee. She meets Tom (Henry Golding), who is looking at a bird outside her shop while Kate gets pooped on by said bird.
It was already known that "Last Christmas" would feature some unheard music from Michael. Well, I don't trust it. Paul Feig, who brought us A Simple Favor, is brilliant in his weaving of stories, and to me, this trailer seems too cut and dried.
Henry Golding stars with Emilia Clarke in the romantic comedy "Last Christmas".
The movie title is a reference to the classic song from 80's group 'Wham!', and follows Kate, played by Clarke, a cynical young woman who works in a Christmas store whose life will be turned upside down by the arrival of a mysterious, happy-go-lucky man, played by Golding. But I think this trailer shows that when you show up to Last Christmas (and you should because it looks delightful), expect that Tom isn't just some guy. As London transforms into the most wonderful time of the year, nothing should work for these two.
"Last Christmas" hits Irish cinemas on November 15th.
"But sometimes, you gotta let the snow fall where it may, you gotta listen to your heart".
The film will also feature at least one unreleased track recorded by the late singer.
