"Preliminary investigation of the matter indicates that this incident does not appear to be a random event", the statement said. "Upon arrival, a wedding was occurring at the church and the police officers discovered a suspected shooter being detained and subdued by the guests of the wedding". Roark said the people in the church "tackled" him.
Two victims with gunshot wounds, one male and one female, were transported to an area hospital by the Pelham Fire Department, Roark said.
Hillsborough County Attorney Michael Conlon said a suspect was in custody but no other information was available.
A photograph taken by a reporter for WMUR shows at least three emergency response vehicles at the church, as well as multiple police cruisers.
Pelham is about 40 miles south of Concord, New Hampshire's capital, on the border with MA.
Authorities responded to the New England Pentecostal Church just after 10 a.m. Saturday.
Lowell General Hospital Has received one patient as a result of the shooting. He was killed earlier this month and a man has been charged in his murder and is jailed.
New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu said in a post on Twitter that state officials were at the scene and that the state would "provide all necessary resources to support the community and our local partners".
WMUR's Amy Coveno reports that a celebration of life ceremony for Garcia was due to be held at noon on the day of the shooting.
She could not share details on that patient's condition or nature of the injuries.
Roark declined to say anything about the alledged's shooter's motive or his relationship to the couple or the New England Pentecostal Church.
