Many on social media are suspicious of the details surrounding Brown's death and the Mitchell's arrests, as Brown was a lead witness in a police trial and would have been thoroughly investigated about his alleged drug dealing.
Dallas Assistant Chief of Police Avery Moore said investigators believe that what really happened is that three men from Alexandria, La., met Brown in the parking lot of his Dallas apartment with the intention of buying drugs.
Police have obtained arrests warrants for the three men, including Michael Diaz Mitchell, 32, who was driving the auto, Moore said. Green then allegedly took Brown's backpack and the gun used to shoot Jacquerious and they sped off. Michael Mitchell, 32, was named as the driver.
The Dallas Police Department announced the arrest of two suspects in the shocking shooting death of Joshua Brown, the key witness in the Amber Guyger murder trial, while a third man remains on the run.
Brown, 28 - who lived across the hall from Jean at the time of the shooting - previously fled to California after repeatedly expressing concerns that testifying in the Guyger trial would put his life at risk, according to Lee Merritt, who represents the Jean family. Jacquerious Mitchell got out of his vehicle, and Brown shot him, the assistant chief said.
Jean was shot and killed by Guyger on September 6, 2018.
Green and Mitchell are still on the run and police consider both to be "armed and risky".
All three will be charged with capital murder, Moore said.
After receiving a "tip", Dallas police conducted a search of Brown's apartment where they reportedly found about 12 pounds of marijuana, 149 grams of THC cartridges and more than $4,000 in cash. But he's asking the department to turn the investigation of Brown's death over to another agency. Jacquerious is being treated at a Dallas hospital, while the other two men are at large.
"The rumors shared by community leaders that Mr".
"I want to thank everyone who demonstrated patience and responsibly reserved their judgment while the Dallas Police Department gathered the facts regarding the death of Joshua Brown". Guyger claimed during her testimony that she mistook Jean's apartment for hers because she returned from the field discombobulated and exhausted. "I encourage those leaders to be mindful of their actions moving forward because their words have jeopardized the integrity of the city of Dallas as well as the Dallas police department".
"The State knew Joshua Brown didn't want to testify due to concerns for his safety". Jean was inside his own apartment. On November 23, Brown was shot at a strip club, Dallas Cabaret South, according to a police blotter item.
Brown was found lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body, Dallas police said.
Brown's shooting, which came days after Guyger's conviction and sentencing for the killing of 26-year-old accountant Botham Jean, attracted widespread publicity and speculation.
