Overwatch 2 will feature Sojourn, a Canadian with an arm cannon

‘Overwatch 2’ announced at BlizzCon 2019

Overwatch 2 brings the gang back together again

Rumors and whispers heading into BlizzCon 2019 suggested such a reveal was going to happen, and it turns out they were right.

Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan stood in front of a raucous crowd at the Anaheim Convention Center during the opening ceremonies of BlizzCon to announce Overwatch 2, a sequel to Blizzard's 2016 team shooter. He says he believes that all heroes are now well balanced, and thinks that the key to having consistent and meaningful meta changes is adding new game modes, different map types and pushing systems that encourage new strategies. That means any new heroes that drop with Overwatch 2 will be immediately available in the original game.

Along with the cinematic trailer, Blizzard also released a gameplay trailer, which glimpses new maps, "highly replayable co-op" missions, leveling up heroes with new abilities, customization of new abilities, an updated artistic look for the game, as well as a new hero.

There were many exclusive announcements from Blizzard during the first day of Blizzcon.

Overwatch 2 will possess a brand new core sport mode known as Push, residence in Toronto, which is ready to be playable on the display hide flooring this weekend.

The main draw for Overwatch 2 will be the campaign mode set all around the world. Today, players finally got confirmation that she will be playable in the next Overwatch game. The Barbarian uses a new more powerful combat system called Aresnal, arming him with the ability to carry and rapidly switch between four different weapons.

Echo is expected to be announced as the new Overwatch hero coming to the game, although it's not exactly clear what game they will appear in.

"I believe the broader you can make a game the more you open a funnel to find who those hardcore players are", he said. "We're excited to be returning to the dark, quintessential Diablo gameplay that players love while expanding the world and story in new ways, and we can't wait for more people to be able to experience it".

Overwatch 2 is the sequel to 2016's Overwatch.

There'll be new player versus player modes as well.

While the original Overwatch was warmly received by the gaming public, one major complaint at launch was that there wasn't any story content for players interested in Overwatch lore to work through. "It's just that we don't know", Kaplan told us.
